Troop Announcements and Flyers

The outing for June is at Black Mountain from June 6th to 8th.

Coming soon - Scout-O-Rama and the famous Troop 615 Sticky Buns! Scout-O-Rama is on Saturday May 17, from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm, at Irvine Valley College. Here is the flyer, and a permission slip.

Remember that this is a mandatory event: if you cannot attend you need to write a note to the SPL and the Scoutmaster explaining why, and you should be prepared to help in some other way.

A new page, 'Outing in a Can', contains the information required for an adult leader to plan and run an outing.

There is an opportunity for some service hours at Las Flores Elementary School this Friday, May 16th. See this flyer.

Tom Lubowe's Eagle Project will be from June 21st through June 24th. A flyer and more details will follow soon!

Brett Diener is currently raising funds and looking for materials for his Eagle Project. He will be restoring a historic railroad caboose at de Portola Elementary School, in Mission Viejo. The dates are: Friday June 20 through Sunday June 22, and Saturday July 5 to Sunday July 6th.

See the flyer.

Alex Nassif is starting work on his Eagle Project. The dates are: Sunday 5/18, Saturday 5/24, Sunday 5/25, and Monday 5/26 (Memorial Day). Alex would prefer that older scouts and adults sign up for his project. If you are able to work on the project please email Alex, or call him at 949 643 8169.

If you are able to help, see the flyer, and don't forget your permission slip!

Here is a report on Family Camp 2008.

The calendars for May, and June, July and August are now available, as well as the long term calendar, all updated on May 13th.

The Troop Roster and parent email list were updated on May 13th. The committee member email list was last updated on April 6th.

Please use these new lists for all communications. If you notice any missing or inaccurate information in these documents, please contact Scott Diener, Dave Lubowe, or Nick Crossley. These documents are password protected; if you do not know the password, call an adult leader or the web master (Nick Crossley). Please do not ask someone to email the password to you; email is not secure, and the rosters contain private information.

The Resources page is a useful source of forms (such as Patrol Menu and Duty Roster forms, and blank Permission Slips), documents (such as the Leadership Contracts, Participation Agreement, etc.) and other information including diagrams of various useful camp gadgets. Use the search page to find information on this and other pages.

The monthly pattern of meetings has been changed! From now on, meetings follow this pattern each month unless the calendar indicates otherwise:
  • 1st week: Patrol meetings for Scouts, and the monthly Parent Meeting in parallel.
  • 2nd week: Regular Troop Meeting; the Senior Patrol (SP) meets 30 min early.
  • 3rd week: Regular Troop Meeting for the 1st and 2nd months of each quarter;
Court of Honor (CoH) in the 3rd month.
  • 4th week: Patrol Leaders’ Council (PLC)
  • 5th week: In those months when there is a 5th Monday, we will generally have no meeting.

The troop has revised and clarified the policy on Scouts attending Merit Badge Days. All Scouts should read this policy, and note that prior approval from the Scoutmaster is required before you attend these events.

Summer Camp this year is from July 12th to 19th at Camp Chawanakee. See the troop flyer, and note that final payment is due by May 5th.

For Scouts approaching Eagle, see this flyer for a Trail to Eagle camp at Lost Valley from July 27 to August 2nd.

Troop meetings for March 10th (and beyond) will be held in the meeting room upstairs ("Great Room") at PCOM where the monthly Parent meetings have usually been held. Be prepared to drop off/pick-up and direct your Scout accordingly starting with next Monday's meeting (March 10th).

Directions: Park on the West (I-5) side of the building, then walk up the stairs from the parking lot to the courtyard.

In response to our donation of approximately 180 DVDs, the Ronald McDonald House sent us this letter and certificate.

Plan ahead for the National Jamboree in 2010! See this link, and read the flyer.

Try out our new search page, provided by Google! Now you should be able to find all the information you need. You can access the search page from anywhere using the new link at the top right of every page.

The Photos collection on Flickr now has over 5000 pictures! Do you have photos from any recent Scouting events? We want these pictures for our collection - and you can then use that collection to find photos of your Scouts for Courts of Honor and other celebrations, or just for fun! The full process of how to participate and how to provide pictures for the collection is explained on the Photos page.

There is now an official and up-to-date site for merit badge information.
